Ranking The Characters Most Likely To Get Killed Off In The Final Two Episodes Of The Penguin

Another week, another phenomenal episode of the best show on TV right now: The Penguin. They simply don't miss with this series. No filler episodes, no shitty side-stories, nothing cringey - it's just the meat and potatoes of what you wanna see for every second of its runtime, and I wouldn't change a god damn thing about any part of it if I could.

I AM starting to sound like a broken record on the blog/in My Mom's Basement, though, because how many times can you say something like "This show is amazing and everyone should be watching it" before that gets old?

So today in this blog, I'll try to take things in a slightly different direction. I will rank the main characters left by how likely it is they're killed off in the final two episodes of the season. Spoilers ahead, obviously....

1. Francis Cobb (Penguin's Mom)

The most obvious choice by a longshot. She's the oldest character in the show, she has dementia, and this week she made Oz promise to kill her/help her die before she becomes completely helpless. She's also, according to her son Oz, the "only thing that keeps [him] good" - so if you want to remind us that The Penguin is actually supposed to be a villain by the end of this series….maybe she's gotta kick the bucket.

I don't know if Sofia/Sal get to her, if she's killed on Victor's watch, or if Oz does the deed himself, but there's zero chance she's surviving the next two episodes.

2. Victor Aguilar (Penguin's right hand man)

Speaking of Victor - he's as much of a goner as Francis is in my opinion. My assumption since the very first episode has been that we'll watch this father/son type relationship flourish between Vic and Oz, only to have Oz brutally and violently murder Vic in the finale. Maybe after Francis dies on his watch.

Again, you have to kinda turn The Penguin back to being a heel by the end of this, and Colin Farrell has teased that you may not find Oz so likable by Episode 8; Vic is unfortunately the perfect guy to bite the bullet here.

3. Eve Karlo (Penguin's Lady of the Night)

Eve could go either way, because I've thought she was gonna die since the pilot - but this week might've been the episode to do it if they wanted to….and they didn't. I sure as hell figured Sofia was gonna shoot her the second she opened the door for her, 'Killing Joke' style, but they had a good talk and Eve was spared. Does that mean she's safe for the next two episodes? Of course not. She gave up Oz's location after all….but I think her odds changed a lot after that conversation with Sofia.

4. Julian Rush (Sofia's therapist)

I can't get a read on this guy. He's a therapist/former Arkham doctor who does some kinda weird red light therapy and is also a simp/in love with Sofia? He's a fine addition to the show, and a great actor, but why does he exist? What is his character's purpose? Will he have a reason to be so closely linked to Sofia throughout the season or is he just her submissive bitch?

I say she either kills him or pins the Falcone murders on him to show us how little she cared about him, but who knows. Maybe she actually loves him and finds comfort in him. I don't hate the theories that he could be this universe's Scarecrow, either. I think it's a longshot and I doubt they'd debut a Batman villain like that, but it's in the realm of possibility for sure.

5. Salvatore Maroni

I am so 50/50 on whether or not Maroni survives the season. On one hand, he's the biggest/most recognizable mobster in Gotham City following the death of Carmine Falcone, and you think that'd make them wanna keep that guy around for 'The Batman 2' - especially if Harvey Dent makes a run for district attorney. Maroni is the one who scars Harvey and turns him into Two Face, after all.

On the other hand, if this series is showcasing The Penguin's rise to power, and how he became the kingpin of Gotham - it doesn't seem like there's much room for Sal and Sofia to both be around with him….unless both of them are sent back to their respective prisons. That's a very real possibility too, and could set up that trial of Maroni. I'm leaning towards him making it out alive right now though.

6. Sofia Falcone/Gigante

I don't think Sofia Falcone/Gigante is going to get killed off, but again - if Penguin is ending this series on top, not everyone can remain where they are right now. Maybe he kills her in his final act before rising to his complete form, top hat and all.

It's probably more likely she is found out/set up and sent back to Arkham, though - and I think that'd be a way better ending to her story in this show than a death. Hell, I'll be pissed if she's killed off because I want Cristin Milioti in 'The Batman 2' as bad as I want any other character in that movie. She's tremendous in this role and has more than earned a scene with Pattinson.

7. The Penguin

Here's a crazy thought: what if this show wasn't to set up Oz Cobb's rise to power before 'The Batman 2', but to showcase his failed run at kingpin that led to his death? What if it ends with Sofia Gigante and Sal Maroni running Gotham, with Penguin and Vic in a shallow grave somewhere in a junkyard? Colin Farrell said after the series that he's basically done with the makeup process, and would be fine if he never saw that fat suit again….so you're saying there's a chance?

I'd be kinda pissed if this happened too, because even after eight hour-long episodes - I want more Cobb! But I'd respect the balls on that move if they pulled that off.

Anyway, check out this week's 'My Mom's Basement' for a full recap of 'The Penguin' Episode 6 as well as 'Agatha All Along' Episode 7….
